Location

The proposed project is located to the northeast of Marton in the Rangitīkei District of the North Island, connecting to Transpower’s 220kV transmission lines passing overhead.

The solar farm covers approximately 400 hectares of private rural land. The site will be leased from the landowners via a long-term lease agreement and reverted to pasture at the end of the project’s life. If built, the solar farm will be there for at least 35 years.

Site Selection

FRV considers this is a great location for the project because of:

Sun Icon

Excellent solar irradiation

Marton receives high sunshine hours, making it a great place  to produce reliable and affordable green energy

Leaves Icon

Low level of environmental impact

The site has been largely cleared over time, meaning the project will have minimal impacts on native flora and fauna

Truck Icon

Excellent Transport Links

The site is well connected to the State Road network. The site has convenient access to SH1 via Calico Line, which already serves as a heavy vehicle bypass route. This will be advantageous during construction

Ground Plan Icon

Level terrain

The land is flat, reducing visual impacts and allowing for cost effective construction and easier operation

Proximity to the National Grid

Transpower’s high voltage 220kV transmission lines run through the project site, making connection to the national grid straight forward
